 The IV-th   Sitting of  Euroregion NEMUNAS Board took place on the  27 October 1998 in Marijampolė , and there was   :

-confirmed a  territorial area  of  Euroregion NEMUNAS

-confirmed   a plan of activity   and  a program  of  arrangements for the first  months  of the year 1999 of Euroregion NEMUNAS .

- Bialystok  voivodship is accepted to Euroregion  NEMUNAS

- audit  commission was formed and confirmed ,D.Juškevičienė  was confirmed as a chairman of the commission .

-The Board  has approved  the   establishement of the  Consular Office  of  the Republic of Lithuania in Grodno and  the establishment of Belarus Consular Office in Druskininkai ;

-other current problems were discussed .

 The V-th  sitting of  Euroregion NEMUNAS Board  took place on 12 March,1999 in Grodno, where  was  :

-partialy renovated  the Board composition- there were changed Polish delegates;

-partialy renovated the Presidium composition –there were changed Polish representatives;

-         there was changed  a vice-president  of the Board ,  delegated  from Poland;

-         there were changed and  supplemented  the articles of the Statute- for the adjustment  of Euroregion  legal basis ;

-          a possibility of the Kaliningrad (Karaliaučius) Eastern regions  participation in the Euroregion NEMUNAS  activity;

-         it was resolved  to apply to the  corresponding institutions  in order  the local levies were not be applied  to the persons and their  vehicles  registered  in the Euroregion NEMUNAS  territory  ;

-         an account of the second half of  1998  period was submitted –  from  the date of  the  22  June,1998  -since  Lithuania  took over  the succession  of  the chairmanship to The Euroregion NEMUNAS Board.

-         other current problems were discussed.

  The sittings of the working groups were arranged on  the 30-31  March  in Grodno ( on  territorial planning;tourism and environment  protection ) and  on  the  7 April  in Suwalki  (on economics ,social affairs).  The  desirable Euroregion arrangements ,preparatory and  investment projects  were discussed .

“ JOTVINGA” chess tournament  of the Euroregion NEMUNAS  Cup  on  the 16-18 April took place in Marijampolė .The team of Lithuania has won the Cup  ,it has  defeated Grodno (Belarus Republic ) team .
